Walking from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam is only for the brave, the poor and the foolish. It is doable, when traveling with no more than a small backpack. But it would require roughly 3,5 hours of continuous walking to reach the Dam in the middle of the city center. Your time is much better spent exploring Amsterdam itself.

Moreover, the first part of the walk -from the airport to the outskirts of Amsterdam- is not particularly pedestrian-friendly. It’s not very pleasant to walk here, especially in the dark. And it can be quite challenging to find your way, even with the help of Google Maps.
